Guzzum Power: Obeah in Jamaica

The exhibition explores the West African origin of the controversial folk practice of Obeah, and presents information on related paraphernalia including herbs, candles, oils and plants, as well as associated rituals. 

Guzzum Power Obeah in Jamaica represents part of the research conducted by the African Caribbean Institute of Jamaica/Jamaica Memory Bank in fulfilment of its mission to research, document and disseminate information on Africa in the New World. It is being mounted with the kind support of the UNESCO Kingston Cluster Office for the Caribbean.
