Natural History Museum of Jamaica

The Natural History Museum is mandated to maintain specimen collections and data relating to the rich biological diversity and natural history of Jamaica.  The NHMJ encourages investigations and documents the linkages between our culture and the physical and biological heritage of the island.  The biological collections include a herbarium of 130, 000 plant specimens, and a zoology collection of over 100,000 faunal specimens from Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
