Flowchart: Alternate Process: World Ocean Day: Its History

World Ocean Day began on June 8 1992 at the Earth summit in Rio, Brazil. It is an opportunity every year to honor the oceans and products they provide, such as seafood, as well as marine life itself for aquariums and pets.
The oceans also provide sea-lanes for international trade. The maritime industry is an integral part of development as it provides the gateway for maritime activities.
However, Global pollution and over-pollution of fish have resulted in drastically dwindling pollution of the majority of species.

Work in progress

There is an Ocean Project (OP) and it is working in partnership with the World Ocean Network (WON), which is working to build a much greater awareness of the crucial role of the ocean in our lives.
Flowchart: Alternate Process: Why Should I Celebrate World Ocean Day?

It is our responsibility to help ensure that our ocean is protected and conserved for future generations.

What do we need to change?

Change perspective - encourage individuals to think about what the ocean means to them and what it has to offer all of us.

Change our thinking - discover the wealth of diverse and beautiful ocean creatures and habitats, how our daily actions affect them, and how we are all interconnected.

Change our ways - we are all connected to the ocean! By taking care of your backyard, you are acting as a caretaker of our ocean. Making small modifications to your everyday habits will greatly benefit our blue planet.
